Project Description
Daniel worked at Beechwood Nursing home for three years as part of the kitchen staff. His job was to prepare special orders for residents and serve residents during meal hours. He discovered many issues with the current system of recording information of residents in his time as a server. Currently, resident’s families fill out medical history information and required meal preparation upon admittance into the nursing home. This is then copied and distributed to nurses and kitchen staff. All information is on paper which is stored in filing cabinets and is only accessible to nurses. In this process, staff often times lose documents or misread individual specifications which makes the process longer and less secure. For employees, there is only a book listing resident seat numbers with no expanded detail regarding resident meal preferences. Therefore, we would like to create this database to make resident information accessible to not only nurses, but employees as well to make it a faster and more secure process.
